Wine of Spain. The wines selected originate from the Hidalgo family's 'Pastrana' vineyard situated in the Miraflores district near Sanlúcar de Barrameda, famous for providing some of the best grapes of the 'Jerez Superior District'. All the sherries have been aged in old casks of American oak for many years using the traditional 'solera' system within the Bodegas Hidalgo La Gitana, S. A. in Sanlúcar de Barrameda, the only place where Manzanilla can be made owing to its favourable climatic conditions. The final selection of the wines considered suitable for the 'Pastrana' label was very vigorous. As a result the choice finally narrowed down to just two sherry styles, one being a classic dry old amontillado, the 'Amontillado Viejo' and the other, this very fine Manzanilla Pasada, an aged Manzanilla with the typical freshness and delicate fragrance of this unique wine and with a style and quality that manages to suit the exacting standards of both wine makers.
