History: Winemaker Marc Kent has always travelled widely beyond his South African homeland to see how other people do things and to help him in his eternal quest for improvement. He first visited the Douro Valley in 2014 and was captivated by what he found there - a wild land full of ancient vines and unfamiliar varietals - and he fell in love with it. He was so entranced that in 2017, he started to make wine there, along with Rita Marques, in her family's winery. In 2020, they purchased their own property.
Regional information: The Douro Valley is the oldest demarcated wine region in the world and is also a UNESCO world heritage site.
Vinification: Invincible Tinto #1 is made with a blend from 30+ year old vineyards. Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca and Tinta Roriz. A portion is fermented lagar - the traditional Portuguese concrete troughs used for foot-treading grapes. The wine is aged for 16 Months in old French oak barrels.
