• once unrolled, wait a few days for the carpet to return to its initial shape
• to keep the edges flat, roll your mat in the opposite direction, leave for an hour, then put it back flat and place a heavy object on it for 2 days
• new carpets may give off an odour which dissipates over time-ventilate your room regularly to reduce it
• to preserve appearance, rotate your rug regularly in one direction or the other to minimise localised wear and loss of colour due to light exposure

• some materials are very fibrous (such as wool) and may pill naturally during the first few months-this is normal
• remove excess fibres by hand and avoid vacuum cleaners with rotating brushes
• the pilling will improve over time
• for maintenance, vacuum very little the first month, then vacuum gently without using the brush
