DAILY FEEDING GUIDE

It is recommended that Tesco Guinea Pig Nuggets are fed alongside unlimited hay and water to provide your Guinea Pig with a complete and balanced diet.

Make sure fresh drinking water and foraging (hay or grass) is always available for your guinea pigs.

The following daily quantities are to be used as a guide only.

An individual guinea pig's feeding requirements may differ from this guide, it will depend on the level of activity and age of your guinea pigs. Supplement your guinea pig diet with small amounts of fresh greens.

Fruit and treats should be fed sparingly.

• A space large enough for your guinea pigs to run about freely.
• Guinea Pigs need a large safe outdoor space for running about, playing, and grazing, with places to hide.
• Shelter from extreme weather and temperatures.
• Hay or straw for bedding.

DIET/ DINNER TIME

• Guinea Pigs need a varied diet, with fibre from hay or grass in addition to nuggets.
• Hay and grass help maintain a healthy digestive system and help wear down your guinea pigs teeth, which are continuously growing.
• Add small amounts of fresh greens for variety.
• Fruit and treats should only be given occasionally.
• Fresh drinking water should be available at all times.

BEHAVIOUR

• Guinea Pigs natural grazers and like to spend their day foraging for food.
• Provide toys, tunnels, and space for your Guinea Pigs to help control its weight and prevent boredom.
• Gentle interaction with humans.
• Fruit and treats should only be given occasionally.

COMPANIONSHIP & FAMILY

• Guinea pigs are happiest when kept as a pair or as a family.
• Other animals such as rabbits are not suitable companions for guinea pigs.

HEALTH

• Clean your Guinea pigs home regularly to avoid disease transmission.
• Groom your Guinea pigs coat daily to maintain a healthy coat.
• Check your Guinea pigs teeth and nails weekly.
• Talk to your vet about worming and neutering
